Reading Time: 1 minute

Cholesterol is a fatty, waxy substance. Is it produced naturally by the liver as an essential fat that benefits your brain, skin and other organs. However, high cholesterol means it can clog in your veins and lead to a variety of heart conditions.

Because there are no symptoms for having excessive cholesterol and is only possible to diagnose from a blood-test, high cholesterol is one of the most common health conditions of which few people realise they have.

The main way to keep your cholesterol levels at a healthy level is to maintain a healthy diet, avoiding excessive consumption of fatty foods such as meat and dairy. Regular exercise, keeping your weight down, and also neither drinking or smoking, will also help to keep your cholesterol levels at bay.
